Oh what tremendous fun we had building a hotel for insects and mini beasts in the garden.
The children used natural materials such as twigs, bark, leaves, pebbles and even the roots of plants to make the hotel as cosy as possible. One child added a bridge for the hotel guests so that they can crawl into a neighbouring garden and another used the butterfly feeder as a lantern to provide light at night. How thoughtful!
We found a worm, a snail, wood louse, some ants and hover flies. We spoke about importance of the worms and how they turn leaves into fertile soil. As you can tell our Bug Hotel is now very busy!
