Last week in the classroom the children took part in Remembrance Day activities. Painting poppies for the class notice board was a successful creative group activity.
Creativity for Montessori is vital for helping children discover or even create themselves, since it is a means of self expression. Self exploration and discovery are important in forming individuality and independence.
The children also came together and observed the minutes silence as a show of respect.
The importance of taking part in such activities is that they highlight the Montessori idea of teaching the children to be 'citizens of the world', where by we try to make them aware of their place in, and responsibility towards the world as a whole. We encourage the children to share this feeling of connection.
