West Hampstead Nursery went on a trip to the local shop!
All the children were asked to bring £1.00 from home and with this we had the chance to go inside the shop and pay for our chosen fruit or vegetable. After we paid for the items, the lovely shop keeper gave us our change and also a receipt to confirm what we had bought!
We used our change to buy even more fruit and vegetables and we once we were back in the classroom put them into our sharing basket and counted all the items we had purchased!
- 19 apples
- 13 bananas
- 3 cucumbers
- 5 tomatoes
- 6 carrots
- 7 oranges
- 11 clementines
- 1 bunch of parsley
- 1 melon
What a lovely selection of fruit and vegetables we were able to buy!

We then decided to make a fruit salad and a vegetable salad with our purchases.
With the help of the teachers we cut all the all the fruits to go into the fruit salad and had a go at giving them a good mix! We then tasted the fruit salad which was delicious! We did the same for the vegetable salad and all agreed that this was a very healthy snack indeed.
All the West Hampstead nursery children and staff found this trip to the shops really enjoyable and hope to go it again soon!
