Before Half-Term, in addition to their daily Montessori work cycle, the children were busy making Valentine’s cards and learning about the Chinese New Year.
With these celebrations in mind, Miss Christina taught the children how to write and say, "Happy New Year" in Mandarin.
During Friday's cooking class, the children made some delicious Chinese spring rolls with Miss Dushka, and they were practising how to use the chopsticks.
A big "Thank You" to Salvatore's mum for bringing beautiful decorations to the classroom. The children helped the teachers hang the ornaments of good luck on the window: lanterns and door stickers depicting ‘The Year of the Dog - Chinese New Year 2018’. They also watched a short video of Chinese children singing 'Happy New Year" in Mandarin and wearing their traditional clothes.
The topic, “People Who Help Us," will continue to run until the end of the Spring term, 29th March 2018.
On Wednesday 28th February 2018, a veterinary nurse from Pet Clinic will be visiting the nursery. Nearer the time, we will update you with the relevant information on how the children, with your help, could prepare for this upcoming exciting day.
As part of their learning expression through the world of art, the children have started making art in the style of Piet Mondrian.
Soon, you will be able to see their art work displayed on the classroom board.
We would like to ask you to please make sure your child has a named blue art apron in his/her shoe bag. All children need to have their own blue apron in order to do painting and art work.
We all hope you had a lovely half term break!
