A very warm welcome to all our new children and parents and welcome again to our returning families also...It is always a delight to see how the children have grown after the long break. We hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing summer and we look forward to settling into a new and exciting Autumn term.
Our topic this term will be "Food". We shall be exploring many aspects of food during our usual daily activities such as songs, poetry, stories and art and we shall incorporate food into other group topic work...maybe even donning our "pinnies" and producing some edible delights to bring home!! Through our work we shall be introducing the concepts of: food around the world, healthy eating, food preparation, hygiene and sharing. As usual all of the EYFS areas of development are encompassed into our termly topic e.g. mathematics, physical development, creative development, etc.
This term always picks up pace quickly and before we know, it is Christmas. As the weather cools, the days shorten and the term unfolds Autumn brings some lovely celebrations; the beautiful changes of the season; looking at the colours and the leaves, Halloween, Bonfire night and of course culminating in Christmas celebrations with our end of term Shared Lunch and Christmas Show!
We look forward to being back in the classroom with your children for this new academic year...
Mr Stephen, Miss Ellen and Miss Lily.
P.S. We are on the lookout for a Highgate Parent Rep - any volunteers most welcome!
